Infinity is the name of the sailboat on which we are sailing, 2 masts, 36 meters and an awesome crew, who accepted us at the last minute if we were able to join them Saturday 16th April in Auckland, the day of departure. We were on Thursday in Wellington on the other side of the North Island 660 km ... Infinity was the opportunity for us to reach the Pacific Islands and continue our journey to the East, but also Infinity carries an environmental project. Each expedition is focused on partnerships with public and private access on climate change. Recently the ship has participate to a battle against oil industry in pacific ocean with Greenpeace New Zealand. Chasing a vessel conducting seismic testing for oil operations. In Fiji we welcome on board a team of ornithologists for inventories in the Fijian islands surrounding the main island Viti Levu.
We drove through the 1500 Nm between Auckland and Suva in 7 days. No tropical storms, a cruising speed of about 7 nautical knots (about 14 km / h), a King Mackerel caught on the 6th day, flying fish on deck, a course on the Pacific islands, their stories and current situation, workout in the afternoon ... and of course the towers at the helm every two hours. Each team was also responsible for cooking for a day, preparing bread and pastries, with fantasy! Well, this is not all "pink", roll around on the boat deck, feeling not good with rocky mouvements...exale south pacific air watching the infinite ocean.
